St. Columbanus Secondary school, Ikwen, known for its high academic standard, has also continued to lead all the Secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State in the area of song and dance. For three consecutive years, SCOSSI has remained unrivalled and this year again, taking 1st position in 12
out of 19 events, with first position in music and cultural dance, SCOSSI emerged the overall 1st in the just concluded competition organised by the Music Teachers Association of Nigeria (MUTAN). SCOSSI SHOCKED MUTAN 2025 and c a rted away almost all the prizes in a unique way. Receiving this unique contingent, the Principal of St. Columbanus, Rev Fr. Emem Umoren, once again dedicated the success story to hardwork and called on young people to work hard to develop their talents. Fr. Emem plans to celebrate these SCOSSI TALENTS during the firth coming Feast of the school.
St. Columbanus Secondary School, popularly called SCOSSI believes in midwifing her students into the best of the best. Saturday 22nd November, will be an opportunity to present the latest ‘geniuses’ to the world. Having confirmed that success can never be an accident, SCOSSI is one school that believes in celebrating excellence. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. Emem Umoren has confirmed that this year’s annual Feast is another opportunity to thank God for the rich and enviable heritage of the school. Fr. Emem added that, as a school family, SCOSSI has a lot to celebrate. God has given us reasons to celebrate. The excellent results recorded this year in both external and internal examinations are worth celebrating.
In a joint statement issued by The Vice Principal Administration, Mr. Saviour Akuaibit, the Special Assistant to the Principal on Academic matters (SAPAM), Mr. Edwin Udoh, and the Dean of student affairs, Rev. Fr. Dominic Okon – who is also the Chairman of the Planning committee, there is the confirmation that the Graduation ceremony is not only organized to celebrate the excellent academic result of the immediate past SS3 students, but also to officially present them to the public as people formed and trained to make a difference in tomorrow’s society.
Fr. Emem, therefore used the opportunity to officially announce that st. Columbanus will play host to many distinguished guests as we celebrate 2025 SCOSSI FEAST featuring ALUMNI PRIDE on the 21st and Graduation on 22nd November 2025. Special highlights on Friday 21st will include Graduation Lecture – to be delivered by Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Akaninyene Ntebono on the theme: PROTECTING THE SCOSSI IDENTITY AFTER GRADUATION: A proof and Guarantee of Uniqueness. The Friday celebration will also feature Alumni pride – celebration of the Golden Jubilee class of 1975 and a special session to celebrate the successful end of tenure for one of our distinguished Alumni – the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Prof. Nyaudo Ndaeyo. All Alumni of SCOSSI are expected to attend the Friday Alumni pride day by 12 noon. The grande finale of the SCOSSI FEAST will be on Saturday 22nd November beginning with Mass by 10am to be presided over by the Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. John George Ekanem. Other highlights of the celebration on this main day include Graduation ceremony, Thanksgiving, Integration of JS1; Crossover for SS1; Inauguration of Cambridge scholars, Prize Giving and lots more…

The Principal, Fr. Emem noted that the good result of the school – in character and learning, is a fruit of commitment and professionalism by staff, support and partnership by parenst and above all, hardwork and the student’s response to a unique formation in a unique school. Fr. EMEM congratulated the overall best graduating student, MISS ADAEZE JOSEPHINE TOBE- EZENWA, who, apart from maintaining a leading position in Internal Exams from her JS1, maintained good moral record as a Head girl and also excelled consistently in CAMBRIDGE and SAT. Adaeze scored 312 in JAMB, emerged the best together with other 25 top scorers in the class who cleared all their WAEC PAPERS WITH ALPHAS. She has been admitted on merit to study Medicine and Surgery. The class of 2025 equally had an impressive result in NECO and GCE and may of them have already been admitted to study different professional courses in the University. The Honour Roll, this year, is long and impressive.
The Chairman of the CPC, Rev. Fr. Dominic Okon and the secretary, Mr. Wealth Edet, highlighted more features of this year’s SCOSSI thanksgiving to include a Novelty Football match between the School Staff and the Graduands with a Galanite in honour of the graduands on Thursday, 20th November; and Host community pride on Saturday 22nd November.
Some special VIPs are expected and the celebration will be streamed live on the school Media channels.
Fr. Emem uses this opportunity not only to congratulate the class of 2025 for living the SCOSSI dream, but he also invites the general public especially Parents, PTA, ably led by Kt. Nsikak Esu, KSM, Graduands, Alumni, Well wishers, friends, Benefactors and Benefactresses to attend and appreciate the rich heritage of this unique school. Above all, Fr.
